Lee "fingers" Bowman was a name hung on LeRoy Bowman during one of his street dance performances in Valparaiso, IN. The city had set up a street dance at the corner of Jefferson and Franklin Streets for the teens and LeRoy Bowman and his back up group, the Arrows, were to provide the music. During a break in the music, one of the dancers came over to the piano and proclaimed that Lee was now Lee "fingers" Bowman. From that day forward, whenever the two or those within the circle that night met Lee, they called him "fingers". The title did not migrate very far from these few, and in time it became not more than a memory. But, even memories are important.
